SC issues notices to Ogra

The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notices to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) in response to identical applications for impleadment on issuance of CNG stations' marketing licences. A three-member bench led by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar issued notices while hearing a suo motu notice against the grant of 450 and 200 illegal CNG station licenses during the tenures of ex-prime ministers Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, respectively.
Earlier, the court asked the Attorney General for Pakistan to submit the record of written orders of the Cabinet Division to the Ogra for issuance of CNG licences. Whereas Syed Iftikhar Hussain Gillani, the counsel for the Authority, pleaded that the Prime Minister has no link with the issuance of directives for new CNG stations. During the course of proceedings, the court found that Syed Iftikhar Hussain Gillani has not appeared in the case as he was not informed about the fixation of the matter. To which, the bench issued notices to Ogra in response to three applications for impleadment on issuance of CNG stations marketing licenses. Later, the hearing of matter was adjourned till June 01.
