Rainy & gusty weather: farmers asked to stop wheat harvesting, threshing

The Met Office has asked the farmers to stop wheat harvesting and threshing ahead of rainy and gusty weather in parts of the upcountry. It said that sowing of Kharif crops should be completed, asking the growers to utilize fully the soil moisture following the expected rains. "Normal wind pattern may prevail in most of the agricultural plains of the country," it said, adding that daytime temperature may remain higher by 2-4 degrees Celsius than normal.
Mainly dry and hot weather is expected in Punjab till May 20 with rain-thunderstorm with gusty wind in upper parts of the province. Dust raising winds are likely to strike in the Southern Punjab over the period. In Sindh, weather is likely to remain very hot and dry with rain-dust raising winds in upper parts of the province including Sukkur and Larkana Division at isolated places.
Rain-thunderstorm with gusty wind is expected at Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and Mardan Divisions at scattered places. Very hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of Balochistan but rain-duststorm/thunderstorm and gusty winds are likely at isolated places of Quetta, Zhob and Sibbi. Weather in Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to be mainly hot and dry weather with rain-thunderstorm and strong gusty winds at isolated places. Widely hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of Kashmir with rain-thunderstorm and strong gusty winds at isolated places.
