PML-N has retained its seat PK-8, Peshawar in closely contested against Malik Tamash Khan of PPP, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results. According to unofficial results Hayat bagged 11,781 votes while Tamash secured 10,789 votes. PTI candidate Shahzad Khan, who was backed by coalition partner - JI and Qaumi Wattan Party (QWP), could only manage to get 9,347 votes in total 284 polling stations.
As many as 15 candidates were contested on the seat while the PML-N candidate successfully retained his family seats as the seat was vacated after his uncle Arbab Akbar Hayat demise. Out of total 98 polling stations, 41 were declared extremely sensitive, 47 sensitive and 11 normal. More than 5,000 police personnel were deployed for security at the polling stations during the by-elections, said a report of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department.
