PIA union elections: Supreme Court turns down LHC decision

Turning down on Tuesday the Lahore High Court's decision on Pakistan International Airline (PIA) union elections, the Supreme Court observed that elections are always held through secret ballot. A three-member judge bench led by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing the matter relating to Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) elections of the national flag carrier union. The bench observed that no period of the incumbent union could be extended in any case and issued directives to the authorities concerned to hold the elections according to the schedule on the completion of its period on June 06.
