Energy policy dialogue on CPEC concludes

A two-day "Energy Policy Dialogue in context with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" (CPEC) organised by US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy, (USPCAS-E). University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar concluded on Wednesday. The objective of this dialogue was to consider challenges and opportunities in CPEC for alternative energy solutions, preparation of industries for energy efficient solutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa offered by CPEC and to explore developing Public Private Partnerships.
KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak appreciated the efforts of USPCAS-E UET Peshawar and USAID to organise policy level dialogues in the field of energy. He informed the audience about the prospects of CPEC, provincial government's policy and interaction with the federal government. Senator Usman Saifullah, Senator Rukhsana Zuberi, Dr Adeem Khan were the promonent speakers. Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Dr Iftikhar Hussain lauded the efforts of USPCAS-E UET Peshawar as a USAID-funded initiative that brings together UET Peshawar, National University of Science and Technology (NUST), and Arizona State University USA to find sustainable solutions to Pakistan's energy related challenges.
USPCAS-E is helping to resolve Pakistan's energy crisis through applied research and developing specialised human resource. He said, "This support from USAID to hold dialogues in the field of energy will enhance students' capabilities and put them in the leadership roles in the energy sector."
