10 killed in rain-related incidents

At least 10 persons, including a minor girl, were killed in rain-related incidents in Lahore, Faisalabad and D.I Khan after heavy rain lashed parts of upper and central Punjab on early Tuesday morning. According to details, seven labourers were killed and two other sustained injuries when wall of an under construction godown near Quaid-e-Azam Interchange collapsed due to heavy rain in Lahore.
The wall of an under construction godown at Quaid-e-Azam interchange fell over labourers who were working on the Orange Line project. Two of the dead have been identified as Irfan and Maqbool. The Met department recorded 25.4mm rainfall in the city, while winds blew at a speed of 74 kilometres per hour. In a separate incident at D I Khan, two people were killed when they were struck by lightning.
In Faisalabad, an eight-year-old girl died when the roof of a house at Ibn-Maryam Colony fell over her. Heavy rain with strong winds was reported in upper and central parts of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Multan, Chiniot and Kasur.
