Meeting adjourned over absence of government officials

The Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage adjourned its meeting in protest over absence of the Secretary Ministry of Interior and Director General FIA from the meeting. The Committee decided to exercise Rule 227 (4) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 in case both the officials do not appear before the committee in its next meeting.
The Standing Committee on IB&NH met under the chairmanship of Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, MNA, on Friday in the Parliament House to discuss the issue of non-payment of salaries to the staff of Bol TV channel. The matter was taken up by the then Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan before the House and referred it to the committee.
The committee was of the view that the issue of non-payment of salaries to the Bol TV channel staff was outstanding since long and there is a need to resolve it without any further delay.
The committee unanimously resolved to proceed under Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly in case both the officials do not turn up before the committee in its next meeting. The meeting was attended by MNAs, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Muhammad Tallal Chaudhry, Mian Muhammad Farooq, Tahir Iqbal Ch., Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Parveen Masood Bhatti, Arifa Khalid Parvez, Belum Hasnain, Murad Saeed, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Naeema Kishwer Khan, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan, as special invitee, Secretary M/o Information Broadcasting and National Heritage, Chairman PEMRA and other senior officers of the departments concerned.
