Faulty tubewells creating water shortage in Lahore

Several tubewells belonging to Water and Sanitation Agency (WSA) have either given out or their capability has lessened by 50 percent owing to falling level of water, increasing water shortage in the city. According to WASA officials, the authority operates 516 tubewells out of which capacity of 105 wells has fallen to 2 cusecs from the previous 4 cusecs.
The locals used to get 450 million gallons water everyday earlier but now the number has fallen to 420 million gallons. The localities which are affecting including Allama Iqbal Town, Anarkali, Tajpura, Township and Canal Bank Scheme, officials said. On the other hand, at least two to three tubewells give out every other day during summers and it is seen as normality by the department concerned.
