Baldia factory case: non-bailable warrants for key accused issued

29 May, 2016

A local court in Karachi on Saturday remarked that the provincial government is not serious in Baldia Town factory fire case as the matter has lingered on since 2012. Session Court West heard the case amid tight security arrangements on Saturday. Rangers law officer, member of investigation committee SP Sajid Sadozai, lawyers of factory owners and lawyer of a local NGO were present in the court.
During the case hearing, the state lawyer informed court that the Sindh Home Department has the real JIT. The court remarked that this JIT will only benefit police and not the court. Neither the Home department nor police are serious in the matter. Order given to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has not been implemented yet. Everything is there but no one is taking any action, the court stated. Meanwhile, the court on Saturday once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the fugitive suspect Mansoor in Baldia Town factory case. In the hearing of the case, the Sindh government presented a two-page report before the court. Upon hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the hearing till July 16.
