Jail Manual violation Usman Moazzam, other inmates go on hunger strike

Pasban-e-Pakistan general secretary, Usman Moazzam and four other prisoners have gone on hunger strike in the Central Jail Karachi against the violation of jail manual. According to details, Usman Moazzam and other prisoners were incarcerated in the closed ward (Band ward) and barred from offering prayers including the Friday prayers with congregation. On this Usman Moazzam and four other prisoners went on the hunger strike. The jail administration has started dialogue with the protesting prisoners and told them that the implementation on the jail manual in their case would begin from May 30 and their other demands would also be considered.
A release issued by Pasban information cell said that on the second day of the Eidul Fitr at night between July 19 and 20, 2015 the rangers had raided the residence of Usman Moazzam in Karachi and arrested him under fake allegations. A case against these allegations is pending with the court. Later, he was shifted to the Karachi Central Jail and put in the closed ward and not giving facility to offer regular and Jumma prayer with the congregation. Against this violation of the jail manual, Usman Moazzam and other prisoners have gone on the hunger strike. Human rights organizations have already been informed about the hunger strike of these prisoners against the violation of the jail manual.
