JI asks government to ensure sanctity of Ramazan

The Jamaat-e-Islami has put forth 17 demands to the government in order to ensure the sanctity of the holy month of Ramazan and for providing necessary relief to the faithful.
The demands have been put forth by the JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, in a letter addressed to the electronic and print media. The demands include issuance of a code of conduct for all institutions for the month of Ramazan, timely provision of the necessities of life especially food items to the people on 30 per cent reduced prices, opening of at least two Utility Stores in each Union council, regular supply of electricity and gas especially at Sehr , Iftar and Taravih timings.
JI Secretary General said that the Rs 1.75 billion subsidy announced by the federal cabinet for Ramazan was only for Utility Stores and the cabinet had not made any planning to control prices in the open market. He said the amount of subsidy was not enough in view of the great rush of customers at the Utility Stores.
