Opera browser speeds up page load times

30 May, 2016

Opera has integrated an ad blocker into its desktop browser and the Android version, Opera Mini, meaning there's no longer a need to install an extension to block adverts on webpages. What's more, the developers claim the built-in ad blocker is even faster than conventional ad blocker extensions because it filters ads at the web engine level, meaning pages can load more quickly.
According to Opera, the ad-blocking feature speeds up browsing by 45 per cent, compared with the AdBlock Plus extension running on Google Chrome. The test was carried out on 66 content-rich websites.
It also found that page loading can be as much as 89 per cent faster compared to browsing without ad blocking.
Until now the feature was only available in the developer version of the browser.
