The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday decided to deploy Army and Rangers both inside and outside of the polling stations in bye-election of different constituencies of the Sindh Assembly. Letters have been sent to the secretaries Interior and Defence, asking them to issue necessary directions for deployment of sufficient strength of Sindh Rangers / Pakistan Army for bye-election on June 2 in PS-106, PS-117 and PS-22, said an ECP official talking to APP.
Army would act as Quick Response Force (QRS) in case of any emergency, he added. He said the decision was taken in view of the volatile law and order situation in the country as well as demands of Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh, District Returning Officers and Returning Officers concerned, and political parties.
