Hate speeches against PM: LHC reserves verdict

02 Jun, 2016

The Lahore High Court has reserved its judgement on a petition seeking action against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party head Imran Khan for allegedly making hate speeches against the country's prime minister. A resident named Atif Sattar has claimed in his petition that party head Imran Khan had been seeking the prime minister's resignation after Panama papers revelations and that the latter "has lost his moral justification to stay on in his office".
He argues the speeches violated the constitution and to ask the prime minister to resign too "is an act against articles 5, 7 and 90 of the Constitution". He has asked the court to act against the party leader and also tell the government to refer the case to the Supreme Court.
