Director General (DG) Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera on Wednesday provided sports gears to the PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash academy for distribution among the budding players. Former World No 2 Mohibullah Khan, who is recently retired as Director Sports Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Center Peshawar was chief guest on the occasion.
Sitting Director Sports PSB Coaching Center Peshawar Mumtaz Ahmad Nadeem, Academy coaches - Pervez Ali and Shehzad Mohib,trainer Adil Khan, Executive Member of the KP Squash Association Wazir Ali and players were also present. Since inauguration in way back 2006, DG Pakistan Sports Board after every six month provide all squash playing gears including rackets, ball, two pair of playing uniform and Rs 500 stipend per month to each of the 12 Academy players of different aegis.
Speaking on this occasion, coach of the PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy disclosed that since the Academy launched in way back January 2006, the Academy has been play very vital role in boosting upcoming talent at grassroots level. He said like every year, the Academy have a trials in Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15. We conduct trials matches before short-listing players for the academy in all these categories, Shehzad Mohib told APP. He said the players of the PSB Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy have excelled time and again because of the daily training under trainer Adil Khan and Senior Coach Pervez Ali.
He said to pay tribute to former World No 2 Mohibullah Khan, DG PSB Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera named after the said PSB Academy as Mohibullah Khan Squash Academy. Humam Ahmad, Ibrahim Mohib, Mutahir Ali Shah, Walid Khalil, Abdur are currently playing at the national level in Under-11 categories before joining the academy at the age of eight.
He said the Academy have a key role as far as promotion of the game at a grassroots level because of the hard work and commitment of the coaches and trainers. He said two of the Academy players Bilal Sajjad and Khushal Riaz were playing at Under-15 level while Hammad, Ghulam Muhammad, Jawad Hussain, Talha Iqbal and Fahad Sharif are currently part of the Under-13 category.
