The Karachi Port handled 174,499 tonnes of cargo comprising 136,116 tonnes of import cargo and 38,383 tonnes of export cargo including 6,429 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 136,116 tonnes comprised of 48,940 tonnes of containerised cargo; 23 tonnes of general cargo; 35,839 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 19,786 tonnes of coal; 12,097 tonnes of food grains; 2,949 tonnes of soyabean meal; 1,007 tonnes of seeds and 51,314 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,383 tonnes comprised of 26,864 tonnes of containerised cargo; 339 tonnes of general cargo; 11,180 tonnes of total bulk cargo 7,980 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 3,200 tonnes of talcum powder.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,235 of 20's and 993 of 40's loaded while 96 of 20's and 79 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 712 of 20's and 610 of 40's loaded containers while 246 of 20's and 388 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Ponente, Taroko, APL Pearl, Leopard and Liberty carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. MOL Dedication, Wan Hai-511, Kota Kasturi, Jupiter Charm, RBD Gino Ferretti, Alam Mutiara and Han Feng carrying containers, SB meal, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Mohar carrying cement sailed out to sea on Thursday while two ships namely Alam Mutiara and Han Feng carrying coal and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. Uni Prudent and Nave Andromeda carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. Sabya, APL Agate, Batam Trader, Lion-M and Mandarin Crown carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 103,453 tonnes includes 48,677 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,120 tonnes of palm oil; 4,502 tonnes of soyabean; 12,564 tonnes of coal and 30,590 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 42,085 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,825 containers comprising of 1,610 containers import and 2,215 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM La Traviata and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MT Beech Galaxy carrying edible oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, CV Maersk Memphis, CV CMA CGM La Traviata, CV MSC Rita, MV Soldoy, MV KM Tokyo, MT Shalamar and MT Beech Galaxy currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV Al-Hadbaa, MV Ikan Bawal, MV Intuition, MV Diamond Sea and MT Bunga Alamanda carrying containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, cement and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, MV Diamond Sea and MT Bunga Alamanda carrying containers, cement and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were twelve ships namely CV Washington, CV MSC Lisbon, CV MSC Tomoko, MV Alam Mutiara, MT Al-Jalaa, MT Plymouth, MT Brizo, MT Daffodil, MT Bronia, MT Al-Marzooah, MT Karachi and MV Tian Shou carrying containers, coal, crude oil, diesel oil, furnace oil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
There are four ships namely CV CSAV Toconao, MT Okyroe, MT Asmaa and MV VSG Dream carrying containers, furnace oil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday.
