With Instagram’s new feature, people will now be able to shop through the app apart from sharing pictures and videos.
Social media site Instagram is making itself a shopping platform too along with media sharing one. The app announced on Monday two updates that it’s bringing to make shopping easier on Instagram.
The first feature Instagram introduced is ‘Shopping in Explore’. This will be a shopping channel personalized for the user. When the user wants to shop, they will see a channel dedicated to shopping posts from the followed brands and the brands that might interest the user. This feature, however, has started rolling out yesterday and will gradually expand globally in the next few weeks, as Instagram wrote in its blog post.
Instagram users can now shop through Stories feature
Instagram already had its ‘Shopping in Stories’ feature in testing since June. Yesterday, the social media app finally rolled out the feature globally, expanding it to businesses in 46 countries. With this feature, when a user is watching behind-the-scene Stories from different brands and comes across something interesting, they can simply tap of the product to learn more about it.
“Shopping is more than an errand – it’s also about what you discover along the way. For many people on Instagram, shopping is an entertaining way to get inspired and connect with new and interesting brands. We’ll continue to explore the right features and experiences to make Instagram the best place to shop from your favorite brands and find inspiration,” wrote the picture sharing site.
