The Karachi Port handled 158,505 tonnes of cargo comprising 135,396 tonnes of import cargo and 23,109 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 135,396 tonnes comprised of 63,251 tonnes of containerised cargo; 45,965 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 28,712 tonnes of coal; 12,343 tonnes of food grains; 2,443 tonnes of soyabean meal; 2,467 tonnes of seeds and 26,180 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,109 tonnes comprised of 15,785 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,224 tonnes of general cargo; and 4,900 tonnes of talcum powder and 1,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. There were four ships namely Ital Laguna, Kota Kasturi, Al Jalaa and Mohar carrying containers, oil tanker and cement respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Uni Prudent, Hankuk Chemi, Shun Sheng and Red Eagle carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely RBD Gino Ferretti and Alam Mutiara carrying oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Friday while two ships namely Wan Hai-511 and Glovis Madonna carrying containers and meal respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were three vessels viz. Sabya, African Blackbird and Mandarin Crown carrying containers, coal and steel respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, APL Agate, Batam Trader, Torm Estrid, Navig-8 Solidarity and Bochem Antwerp carrying containers, mogas, oil tanker and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 41,471 tonnes includes 4,500 tonnes of palm oil; 3,942 tonnes of soyabean; 6,733 tonnes of coal and 26,296 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,630 tonnes includes 1,219 tonnes of cement and 37,411 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,353 containers comprising of 1,384 containers import and 1,969 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant and MV KM Tokyo carrying containers and soyabean seeds sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Rita carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV Maersk Savannah, CV MSC Rita, MV Diamond Sea, MV Soldoy, MV KM Tokyo, MT Shalamar and MT Bunga Alamanda currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CV CSAV Toconao, CV Al-Hadbaa, MV Ikan Bawal, MV Intuition, MT Okyroe and MT Gao Cheng-3 carrying containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. CV CSAV Toconao, CV Uni Florida, MV Ikan Bawal and MT Okyroe carrying containers, soyabean seeds and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were eleven ships namely CV Washington, CV MSC Lisbon, MV Alam Mutiara, MT Al-Jalaa, MT Plymouth, MT Brizo, MT Daffodil, MT Bahra, MT Bronia, MT Al-Marzooah and MT Asmaa carrying containers, coal, crude oil, diesel oil and furnace oil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are five ships namely CV Safmarine Nyassa, CV MSC Tamako, MT UMM BAB, MT Karachi and MV Tian Shou carrying containers, furnace oil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
