Japanese electronics makers Sony are introducing a 6-inch, 1080p smartphone with a 21.5-megapixel rear camera and hybrid auto-focus to come out in July in three colours. The Sony Xperia XA Ultra, described by some as a phablet because it straddles the size of a phone and tablet, even takes hi-resolution selfies in wobbly situations, thanks to a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with optical image stabilisation.
The Xperia XA Ultra, which weighs 202 grams and is 8.4 millimetres thick, runs on an eight-core processor with 3GB of RAM and up to 16 GB of flash memory. The 2700-mAh battery lasts up to two days.
The Xperia XA Ultra will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed and is expected to come out in black, white or gold. Sony has not yet announced how much it will cost retail.
