Punjab Board of Investment and Trade Chairman Muzaffer Miraj Khawaja has said that the universities should come up with new innovative ideas to address the problems of the people and the county. He was taking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at his chamber. He stressed upon the need to enhance the skills of students with practical work so that they can face the challenges of practical life effectively.
He said that no nation can make development without skills development and hard work. He said that universities can play a pivotal role in the skill development among the students. He said that the country was blessed with tremendous resources and talents, there is the need to tap the potential. He said a large number of the people are facing the malnutrition that is a matter of concern.
UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that agriculture is the backbone of the economy. He said that this year, cotton production had faced the set back due to the climate changes. He said that the university had developed a new variety of cotton which is the short duration. He said the government initiatives of the lowering down the fertiliser and pesticides prices would bring the tangible results for the farming community.
He said that the UAF was making all-out effort to ensure the quality education and to lower down the teacher students' ratio. Talking about nutrition, he said that it was a matter of concern that the 40 percent of the population was facing the zinc and iron deficiency. There is the need of food fortification and to create the awareness among the masses about the balanced usage of food.
