The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought a comprehensive report from Chief Secretary Balochistan pertaining to deteriorating medical facility provision condition in Sandeman provincial hospital Quetta. Resuming the hearing of a suo motu notice, a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali issued directives to the authorities concerned to submit the report within three days through Registrar Balochistan High Court.
Appearing before the bench Additional Attorney General for Pakistan Rana Waqar and provincial law officer Ayaz Swati informed that children casualties took place due to shortage of medicines in the hospital. Expressing dismay over the situation, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said it is the primary responsibility of the government to provide health facility to all its citizen.
However, Rana informed that Punjab government has decided to provide medicines to save the children's lives in Quetta immediately whereas Balochistan government is also taking measures to address the situation. Federal Health Secretary didn't turn up before the bench as he was abroad to which the bench sought a report from the Balochistan government in the matter. Hearing of the suo motu case was adjourned till June 13.
