Children's hospital extension project completed

The extension project of Children hospital, Lahore has been completed and the capacity increased from 250 to 684 beds while the new block includes 16 operation theatres. Secretary Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah said here on Wednesday that the Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would be invited to inaugurate the extended block of Children Hospital. He directed to shift the system of the hospital on information technology.
He said that after functioning of the extended block of the hospital, medical treatment facilities for the children would be enhanced manifold and 16 operation theatres would also reduce the waiting list of procedures. He disclosed that Paediatric Cancer Unit of Children Hospital is also being upgraded for which the government has released funds of Rs 230 million. Professor Ahsan Rathore informed that the total expenditure occurred on the extension of Children Hospital is Rs 3.75 billion.
He informed that new block has 16 operation theatres. Medical equipment and Bio-Medical instruments have been reached in the hospital, which are being installed. He said that recruitments process of doctors and other supporting staff has been completed. Dean Children Hospital Professor Masood Sadiq stated that the process of installation of medical equipment and other minor formalities would be completed by the month of August 2016.
