KP Governor Engr Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has expressed satisfaction over the successful ongoing anti-polio campaigns as there was no case of polio reported in the current year throughout the Fata and further directed to continue with the same spirit. He expressed these views while presiding over the meeting to review the performance and progress of Polio Eradication Initiatives in Fata here at Governor House on Wednesday.
Besides, representatives of UNICEF and WHO, Additional Chief Secretary Fata, Mohammad Aslam Kamboh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Sikandar Qayum, Secretary Law & Order Fata, Shakil Qadir, Secretary SS&D Fata, Waqar ul Hasan and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
A detailed briefing was also given to the governor regarding the anti-polio initiatives in Fata. Addressing the meeting, the governor said we are making progress in eradicating the virus of the crippling disease adding that significant improvement in security and accessibility has helped in containing polio cases in Fata. He ensured full support to Fata Polio Eradication Initiatives (PEI) teams in their efforts to save future of our children.
The governor also announced to give awards to the officers, supervisors and field staff of anti-polio campaigns on better performance. He said the successful anti-polio campaigns not only eradicate the polio virus from the country but also raise the positive image of the Pakistan globally.
On the occasion, the governor directed to improve the routine immunisation, as it is vital for achieving polio eradication goals as well. He further directed the officials concerned that more effective and well co-ordinated immunisation and anti-polio campaign be followed vigorously in Fata and vaccination of every child be ensured to save the future of the country. He said all-out efforts are being made for complete eradication of polio from the country.
