The accountability court on Wednesday handed over former finance adviser to the chief minister Balochistan, Mir Khalid Langove to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for remand till June 21. Langove was produced before the accountability court after completion of his 14-day remand. Strict security measures were taken for Langove's arrival in the court in relation to the ongoing investigation of Balochistan secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani's corruption scandal.
The NAB requested the court to grant an extension in Khalid Langove's remand, which the court accepted and granted a time period of another 14 days for the accused's remand. Earlier in May, Langove said he was stepping down from his post to aid transparent investigations after a huge amount of the ill-gotten money was recovered from the residence of the provincial finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani. NAB had recovered more than Rs 730 million from Raisani's residence. He has been accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the local government development funds.
