Pakistan, Afghanistan: US issues brief statement about Olson's visit

Ambassador Richard Olson US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) visited Pakistan amid uneasy relationship between the two long standing allies following death of Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour in a US drone attack inside Pakistan territory on 22nd May 2016. The US State Department issued following brief statement which Business Recorder received on Sunday:
Ambassador Richard Olson, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, travelled to Pakistan on June 10-11, and Afghanistan on June 11-12.
In Islamabad, Ambassador Olson met with government officials, including Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Chief of Army Staff Raheel Sharif, to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues.
In Kabul, Ambassador Olson met with Afghan government officials to include President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, and National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar. He also met with Resolute Support Commander, General John Nicholson.
