I, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Employers' Federation of Pakistan, feel it my distinct privilege to inform that the first ever Event after the devolution of labour to provinces in the form of this National Industrial Relations and Provincial Tripartite Labour Convention which has been held by the Employers' Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation on 19th & 20th May, 2016.
This Convention has been convened with the objective to develop a harmonious approach to all provinces towards an employment and productivity oriented labour and industrial policy at the federal and provincial levels.
This Convention comprised of the following events:
-- Bringing the Tripartite Partners ie, Government, Employers and Workers from the Federal Government and all the Provincial Governments, under one roof to generate and inspire a cohesive thinking, mindset and mechanism for future institutional growth through a consensus approach in the post devolution era.
-- Bringing the stakeholders together to benefit from the MNEs Declaration on business sustainability in the wake of the fast changing global, social and economic context.
The convention came out with very concrete outcome in terms of the following:
a. A proposal for Labor Policy Guidelines containing 16 points for developing of an employment, productivity and welfare oriented labour policy for uniform implementation about the Federal / Provincial levels through legislation.
b. A proposed draft proposal for policy procedures to combat Labor Market Implications of Climate Change.
The convention also conferred Recognition Award on IR Practices to leading companies and a few case studies on best practices in IR out of the participating companies will be developed as a training tool for imparting IR Skill Training to Stakeholders.
