Officials asked to monitor dengue control activities

Parliamentary Secretary on Health Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that secretaries and senior officers of the departments concerned should personally go into the field to monitor dengue control activities for effective control on dengue, in the upcoming season. He said that according to the meteorological department, excessive rains are expected in upcoming monsoon season, therefore, it is essential to boost up anti-dengue activities and to check the mosquito breeding.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat, here on Wednesday. Director General Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Pir Ashraf Rasool MPA, senior officers of all the departments concerned, representatives of the federal departments based in Lahore including meteorological department attended the meeting. The officers from Punjab Information Technology Board and Special Branch were also present in the meeting.
Additional Director General Health Dengue Control Dr Fayyaz Butt presented overall scenario of dengue situation in Punjab. Khawaja Imran stressed the need for dengue awareness campaign besides vigorous indoor and outdoor dengue and vector surveillance. He said that Rawalpindi is the most sensitive district as regard to dengue; therefore, special focus should be given on foolproof anti-dengue measures. The officers of Punjab Information Technology Board and Special Branch shared data regarding the anti-dengue activities carried out by different departments across the province.
