Punjab allocates Rs 132.439 million to public order, safety affairs

Punjab government has allocated Rs 132.439 million for public order and safety affairs expenditures on courts of law, police, prisons, relief and crisis management including fire protection, anticorruption establishment/economic crimes, and civil defence are included under this head. The FY 2015-16 allocations were Rs 123.437 million and the present one is 7.3 percent higher than the previous one.
This allocation included Rs 89.552 million for the Punjab police that is 2 percent more than the allocation made in the last financial year. The allocation for the Counter Terrorism department, Elite Police force and district police have been substantially enhanced to ensure preparedness of police to provide better law and order to the general public.
Allocation for the law courts (High Court & lower judiciary) is Rs 18,703.299 million, followed by the police with an allocation of Rs 89,552.014 million, fire protection (civil defence) Rs 68.979 million, prison administration and operations (jails) Rs 10,063.254 million, and administration of public order (including rescue and emergency services) Rs 14,052.092 million.
