MOL told to compensate families of deceased workers

The Petroleum Ministry has directed Exploration and Production (E&P) company MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company BV to compensate families of the four deceased workers who died while filling a tanker on October 22, 2015, official said. Sources said that after the incident the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Initiated an inquiry into the matter where four workers were burnt to death in an accident that took place at Makhori East-4 when a fire erupted on October 22, 2015 while filling a tanker.
Sources said that as per findings of the inquiry the Ministry has directed the MOL to pay Rs 5 million as compensation to the family of each deceased person as well as provide a job to one family member of the victim. The inquiry was headed by Liaquat Ali, Manager Production Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and also comprised of representatives of MOL, Government Holdings Private Limited, Pakistan Petroleum Limited and others.
Sources also revealed that MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company B.V have made another gas discovery at Makhori Deep which as per initial tests 5 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) of natural gas and 2,000 barrels per day of crude were discovered. MOL Pakistan a fully owned subsidiary of the MOL group is operating in Pakistan since 1999 where it has operated as well as non-operated joint ventures with the local E&P companies. Currently MOL Pakistan is the Operator of the Tal, Margalla and Margalla North blocks and it has participation in two non-operated blocks namely Karak and Ghauri.
