Ayyan Ali not allowed to proceed abroad: notices issued to interior ministry, others

18 Jun, 2016

Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday sought comments from the ministry of interior why model Ayyan's name was not excluded from the Exit Control List (ECL) despite the SHC's order. The SHC bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, was hearing another contempt of court petition filed by the model Ayyan Ali who requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the FIA, interior ministry, and immigration officials for not complying with the SHC's directives.
The court issued notices to the respondents, directing them to submit their respective comments on 23rd June 2016. The petitioner submitted that her name was not removed yet from the ECL despite the court's earlier directions. She said that act of the interior ministry was tantamount to the contempt of the court and proceedings should be initiated against them. The model was got surprised when she reached Karachi Airport on Wednesday to travel abroad, where she knew that her name was still included in the ECL. She kept the SHC's order in hand and was showing to counter but to no avail.
