The villagers in Wari subdivision of Dir Upper on Friday staged a protest demonstration outside press club, against the Wari police for allegedly arresting members of Jirga without any charges against them. The protesters led by the PTI members while others included Shoukat Ali, Gul Hassan, Ikram Khan and others were spoken on the occasion. They said that the Jirga was busy in resolving a land dispute between two groups. At the meantime the Wari police arrived and arrested all the Jirga members without any valid reason.
They alleged that the police were tortured and manhandled them. They protesters demanded of the police high-ups to conduct an inquiry into the matter, and warned that they would compel to block the main Dir-Chitral road for all kinds of traffic.
