Balochistan wheat scandal: former secretary sent to jail

An accountability court has sent ex-secretary Food Department, Government of Balochistan, Ali Bakhsh Baloch to jail on judicial remand, here on Friday who was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) last day. A NAB team produced him before the court and after conducting hearing into the case, the court sent him to prison on judicial remand.
A spokesman for NAB said here that ex-secretary Food, Ali Bakch Baloch was arrested by NAB team in massive corruption of wheat stocked and stored in Provincial Reserve Centres (PRCs) of the Food Department in different districts of the province. He said that Baloch in connivance with black sheep in the department was involved in embezzlement of over Rs 01 billion of the Food Department. "The accused had gone underground but following a tip-off, a NAB team raided a place and arrested Ali Bakhsh Baloch," he said. He said that several other accused had also been arrested in massive misappropriation of Food Department's funds.
