Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the City District Government Lahore to ensure implementation of ban imposed on protests and rallies at Mall Road. LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad on Friday said that Mall Road is not only a major hub of business activities and linked the major areas of the city but most important buildings like provincial assembly and WAPDA House are also situated here.
The violation of Section 144 not only hampers business activities at Mall Road but also causes worst traffic jam across the city but concerned departments are seem to be failed to implement the rules and regulations. Lahore has become a hub of trade and economic activities but a number of issues including traffic mess, lack of parking facility and violation of rules and regulations are hampering the growth of trade and industry and adding to the miseries of traders doing business at Mall Road. He urged the government to ensure implementation of ban on protests at Mall Road immediately.
He said that businesses of traders of Mall Road have come to a grinding halt due to protests and rallies which have become a daily routine. He said the government has banned protests on the Mall Road but non-implementation was a big problem. He said that traffic mess is also causing undue damage to the trade and economic activities in the city. LCCI president urged the provincial government and CDGL to take serious notice of the issue and utilise all resources to ban protests and rallies at Mall Road.
