Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies (PUICS) and Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide internship facilities to the students of the institute. In this regard, an MoU signing ceremony was held at Punjab University Vice Chancellor's office. PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran and Director General OPC Nadeem Sarwar signed the agreement on behalf of their organisations.
Vice Chairperson OPC Shaheen Khalid Butt, Commissioner OPC Afzaal Bhatti, PU Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado, ICS Incharge Noshina Saleem and Amir Mehmmod Bajwa were also present on the occasion. According to MoU, the joint collaboration aimed at imparting short and long term internship to young students of the university. The OPC shall promote the role of young students to enhance meaningful participation in national plans of development put forth by OPC.
OPC and PU will also value and develop non-formal education programs or vocational trainings with student of PU as a tool to work for betterment of the society. Moreover, PU and OPC will arrange social events such as awareness programs, seminars, debates and trainings in which representatives of PU and OPC will participate together. It is worth mentioning that the intern students would be deputed to guide and facilitate overseas Pakistanis at airports. Special certificates would be awarded to the interns after the completion of internship.
