Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has urged upon the Government to ensure the timely completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the special economic zones (SEZs) in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and other suitable areas of South Punjab.
The MCCI President Fareed Mughis Sheikh said here on Sunday that the CPEC was a ray of hope and all conspiracies against this mega project should be tackled with iron hands.
Mr. Sheikh said that the CPEC was bound to turn Pakistan into a great investment destination. He said that CPEC would herald a new era of progress and prosperity in the country; therefore it should be handled with extra care.
"It will not be wrong to say that the economic benefits of this project are hard to estimate since China already promised to invest more than 46 billion dollars," he said. The MCCI President said that the CPEC was an overall cooperation platform with a focus on long-term development of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
