The top court on Monday issued directives to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to dispatch record of three polling stations of election material of NA-110 to National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) after tracing it from the concerned branches by a month. Earlier, the top court had sought comprehensive report from the ECP after tracing out record of 29 polling stations from the incumbent Defence Minister Khawaja Asif's constituency NA 110 Sialkot, which allegedly went missing after general election 2013.
Appearing before a three member bench led by the Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in response to plea of runner up candidate of the PTI Usman Dar, the ECP representative apprised that instead of 29 polling stations, 26 polling stations record have been traced out in pursuance of the court' earlier directives. The bench was further informed that an inquiry committee had been constituted under the supervision of DG for tracing out record of other three polling stations.
Rashdin Qasuri, counsel for Khawaja Asif, contended that result of only ten polling stations of his client' constituency were in question to which the bench said that the court will decide the case in hand on merit once complete report is furnished in the case. Responding to Qasuri's objection of mudslinging in the media, the court observed media trial has become order of the day and nobody is exempted from it, adding that his client was enjoying the position in government while his opponent is the one who is suffering.
