KATI President demands timely steps to avoid rain-related losses

President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Zahid Saeed urged concerned authorities for timely arrangements to avoid any eventuality due to expected heavy rainfall in Karachi in upcoming monsoon. Citing the recent forecast of downpour by Meteorological Department he said that water drainage system of the metropolis was collapsed and needed cleaning and reconstruction on different spots and location.
"Korangi industrial area is situated near the Malir riverbed but debris and garbage dumped illegally in its surroundings despite many restrictions and court orders," he said adding that KATI had cautioned many a times that in case of heavy rains this problem could cause heavy losses. KATI President urged the government to adopt measures for removing debris and garbage piles from Malir riverbed area as well.
