Knowledge, research main steps towards peace, development: KP governor

KP Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that knowledge and research are the main steps for the peace and development of any nation and education is essential for achieving a respectable position in the world. Presiding over the 20th meeting of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Management Sciences at Governor House, Peshawar on Tuesday, the governor who is also its chairman further stated that indeed a market demand based strategy can be the best option in making this institution a goal oriented in real terms.
Beside others, Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP for Higher Education, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Principal Secretary to Governor, Sikandar Qayyum, Secretary Finance, President Chamber of Commerce, Director IM Sciences Muhammad Muhsin Khan and Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar also attended the meeting.
The Board was informed that the institute has 42 PhD faculty members including 28 PhD scholars. Teaching staff of the institute will be doubled after the completion of the degrees of the PhD scholars. The meeting was further informed that the institute is availing the advantage of linkages with institutions of international repute including the four UK based universities.
The governor said that all-out efforts are being made to provide the better education facilities to our youth. He emphasised that higher education institutions should focus on research adding that research based education was the key to success. Meanwhile Dr Muhammad Mohsin while apprising the Board about the prevailing state of working of the institution as well as its future requirements said that their entire system administrative, financial management and examination systems are electronic governance based and they are engaged in the continuous process of bringing further improvement in all sphere of the academic environment at the campus. He also thanked the governor as well as the provincial government for extending due patronage to the institute.
