The National Assembly on Tuesday approved 19 demands for grants of Rs 149 billion for Ministry of Water and Power, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Food Security and Research and Foreign Affairs. These demands were presented by the Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar in the Lower House for approval.
The house approved all the demands following a debate on them separately while rejecting more than 700 cut motions moved by the opposition members on grants of the ministries. The house approved 11 demands of grants of Rs 98.3 billion for Ministry of Interior, 4 demands of Rs 16.1 billion for Foreign Affairs, 2 demands of Rs 29.37 billion for Ministry of Water and Power and 2 demands of grants of Rs 5.23 billion for Ministry of National Food Security and Research.
The house approved Rs 1.35 billion for Foreign Affairs Division, Rs 12.24 billion for Foreign Affairs, Rs 1.988 billion for other expenditures of the Foreign Affairs Division and Rs 500 million for capital outlay on works of Foreign Affairs Division. As for the Interior Ministry, the National Assembly approved Rs 708.8 million for Interior Division, Rs 7.12 billion for Islamabad, Rs 2 billion for passport organisation, Rs 43.3 billion for civil armed forces, Rs 7.95 billion for Frontier Constabulary, Rs 1.75 billion for Pakistan Coast Guards, Rs 18.16 billion for Pakistan Rangers, Rs 3.35 billion for other expenditures of Interior Division, Rs 2.32 billion for Narcotics control division, Rs 11.48 billion for development expenditure of Interior Division and Rs 218.4 million for development expenditures of narcotics control division. The house approved two demands of grants for Ministry of Water and Power including Rs 457.1 million for Water and Power Division and Rs 28.92 billion for development expenditures of Water and Power Division.
The National Assembly also approved two demands of grants for Ministry of National Food Security and Research including Rs 3.7 billion for National Food Security and Research Division and Rs 1.5 billion for development expenditures of National Food Security and Research Division.
