Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani has said that the purpose of allocating Rs 300 million to Darul Uloom Haqqania Akora Khattak, is aimed at bringing the religious seminaries to mainstream.
"Around 3 million students are enrolled in these seminaries where they are fed, sheltered and taking care of without any expense," he said. Mushtaq Ghani said that the PTI which had the vision to streamline all sorts of education to convert into one education system sought to bridge appalling disconnect between the government and the seminary system. He said that major chunk of the fund would also be utilised for construction and repair of its building.
"In addition, the provincial administration seeks to enhance monitoring and oversight of the religious seminaries which is not possible without catering to their needs and bridging disconnects," he said. The advisor said that the provincial government was keen to enhance financial as well as technical assistance to religious schools in the province to bring them under the umbrella of provincial education regime and the said step was the first in that direction. "Evolving universal education system is the target of the KP government, which certainly is not possible by pushing hundreds of religious schools in the province towards isolation," he said.
