US Plains HRW wheat bids firm

Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the southern US Plains were steady to firm on Wednesday, with the basis firming at the Gulf export terminal. Some grain buyers have firmed their bids this week to offset declining wheat futures prices. K.C. July HRW wheat settled down 2 cents at $4.33 per bushel, a life-of-contract low, pressured by the ongoing US winter wheat harvest and plentiful global supplies. Protein premiums for wheat shipped to and through Kansas City rose for most grades.
