Upper parts of country: Monsoon onset likely today: PMD

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has said that strong monsoon currents are penetrating eastern parts of Balochistan and the onset of the three-month monsoon spell is very likely today/tomorrow (Tuesday) over upper parts of the country.
It said the monsoon rains are likely to start from upper parts of the country and will spread towards central and southern parts of the country later during the week. During the first spell of monsoon, widespread rains with isolated heavy thunder and showers accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Kashmir. While scattered rains/dust storm, thunder and rains are also expected in Sindh and Balochistan.
It advised all authorities concerned to remain alert during this week because there is high probability of isolated heavy downpours which may generate flash flooding in hilly terrains and urban flooding in big cities.

Widespread rain/dust/thunder storm with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds is expected in Sibbi, Makran, Kallat, Nasirabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir. Scattered Rain/Dust-Thunder storm with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds is expected in Quetta, Zhob divisions lower Sindh, South Punjab. Isolated rain/dust-Thunder storm with few heavy falls accompanied by strong gusty winds is expected in KP, Upper Sind and FATA.
