The martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (AS) will be observed across the country today with religious spirit, reverence and fervour. Special functions, including seminars, conferences, Majalis and processions have been arranged in cities and towns of the country to eulogise the services rendered by Hazrat Ali (AS) for Islam.
In Islamabad, the main procession in this regard was taken out from Sector G-6/4, which after passing out from its designated route, culminated at Imambargah Asana-e-Ashri, G-6/2. Some 400 policemen, including commandos, were deputed to guard the Youm-i-Ali (AS) procession.
The main procession in Rawalpindi will be taken out from Mohanpura at 9pm on June 26 and after passing through Kashmiri Bazaar, Fawara Chowk, Iqbal Road, Nia Mohalla and other roads culminate at Colonel Maqbool Imambargah at Fajr. The main procession will be given security cover by 1000 police personnel.
Other big processions will be taken out from Darbar Sakhi Shah, Imambargah Fatmia, Markazi Imambargah Kosar-e-Zainab and Shah Chan Chiragh Dhoke Rata on June 26 and 27. Some 4,000 police personnel, including Elite Commandoes, women police, special branch personnel and volunteers will be deployed in Rawalpindi district to guard 98 majalis and 23 processions to be taken out from New Town, Waris Khan, City, Civil Lines circles, Cantonment, Saddar, Kahuta, Gujar Khan, Murree and Taxila circles.Al-Hussain Trust and Markazi Imam Hussain Council have organised a comprehensive programme to observe the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Imam Ali (AS).
Radio and TV channels will air special programmes to highlight the occasion. The newspapers will publish special articles and essays in this regard.
Marking the occasion, various Majalis-e-Aza and "Taboot" processions would be taken out from all cities and towns of all the four provinces and Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas.
Rangers, police, bomb disposal squad and officials of the special branch and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed along the routes while the processions will be monitored through close circuit cameras.
