64 improper and dangerous U-turns abolished

As many as 64 improper and dangerous U-turns have completely been abolished on the National Highway in the last two months. In the Okara sector, 33, Multan sector, 28 and in Rahim Yar Khan sector, three U-turns have been closed by the Motorway Police Central Zone. This was revealed by DIG Mirza Faran Baig during an awareness campaign regarding the use of U-turns, here on Sunday.
The Central Zone gave a briefing to users of 10,672 public service vehicles, 11,072 heavy transport vehicles, 10,127 light transport vehicles and 14,091 motorcyclists regarding awareness about taking U-turns carelessly by the road users.
Mirza Faran Baig told the beat commanders to ensure proper briefing to drivers about the U-turns. The briefing sessions would be carried out at the roadside hotels, patrol pumps, movie points, bus stands and on national highways. The mobile education unit and operation officers would visit educational institutions, factories and transporters offices adjacent to the national highways to educate the public through multimedia, he added.
