BISE exams: KP unveils cash prizes for top 10 position holders

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has announced Rs 1 million cash prize for all those students of government schools who secure top ten positions in their respective Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in the province.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while handing over a cheque of Rs 500000 to Faisal, a special child from a government High School, in Haripur for the top position in the recently declared SSC results by the BISE, Abbottabad. The KP Minister for Education Mohammad Atif and Minister Health, Science and Technology Shahram Khan Tarakai were also present on this occasion.
Rupees 1 million cash prize will be in addition to the merit scholarships and other prizes that are awarded as usual. Every year, each of the eight BISE in the KP award a national talent scholarship of Rs 10,000 per month for two years to the top 25 position holders including 17 from Science Group and 8 from Humanities/Arts Group but this announcement is exclusively for the students of government schools where mostly the poor parents send their siblings.
The Chief Minister also announced that besides this prize and usual scholarships the outstanding special child would be given a laptop also.
He remained with the talented but disabled child for quite some time and said that his achievement was a proof of the hard work and commitment. He said that his government was concentrating on improving the standard and quality of education in the public sector institutions where mainly the poor students read and thus the gap between the poor and the rich narrowed.
Addressing Minister Mohammad Atif, Chief Minister stressed that the formalities for these scholarships and cash prizes be finalised on urgent basis so that the talented students could be provided its maximum benefits.
