Former MNA and Central Majlis Shura member Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Mulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali has expressed dismay over the poor measures of the PTI-led provincial government towards mitigating sufferings of flood-affected people of Chitral and rehabilitation.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the JI leader said that massive scale destruction was taken place during flash floods that affected most upper parts of Chitral, including Bamburiat, Baroz, Garam Chashmah, Tor Kahoo and Sheshi Koh. However, he lamented the provincial government for the inability to rehabilitate the flood-hit regions despite the passage of one-year.
Chitrali said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan and its party led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had promised to allocate sufficient funds from own resources for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-affected areas of Chitral.
They would not seek any foreign donor support for this purpose, he added. But, he said PTI Chief Imran Khan had negated its promise by giving proposal for convening a donor conference for the restoration and rehabilitation of the floods-affected district Chitral.
He said there's difference between the act and deeds of PTI chairman and provincial government. JI leader said the Chitral was the worst affected district during last year flash floods in the province, despite the fact provincial government had failed to allocate adequate funds in next fiscal year to carry out reconstruction and rehabilitation of Chitral.
