Eid congregations: around 6,000 policemen to guard worshippers in Rawalpindi

City Police has finalised a security plan for Eid-ul-Fitr congregations. Under the security plan, about 6,000 armed policemen will be deployed outside mosques, imambargahs and open places to provide security to the worshippers.
While 2,000 police officials would be assigned in Murree and special package would be announced for those who would perform their duties to protect the motorists and to keep flow of traffic smooth in Murree.
Talking to APP, City Police Officer CPO Israr Ahmed Abbasi on Sunday said security arrangements have been finalised and said additional police personnel have been deployed particularly to cover main city markets, mosques and Eid congregations.
He said policemen deployed on security duty should have metal detectors with them to search the participants. Walk through gates should be installed on important places where the events of Eid congregations to be held.
He said that special directives have been passed on to police officials to ensure patrolling in their respective areas.
He said that negligence would not be tolerated at any cost and strict departmental action would be taken against them.
He urged the public to cooperate with the police in curbing terrorist elements and immediately inform the authorities after observing any suspicious movement in any area of the city.
