Assisting Chitralis: PDMA directed to utilise all resources

On the directives of the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been directed to utilise all of its resources to assist the flood affectees of Chitral.
PDMA expressing grief over the loss of life during the floods assured that the provincial Government and PDMA will provide all necessary relief and relief to flood affected families.
According to district administration, 29 persons are confirmed dead while 13 people are reported missing, while rescue operations in the calamity hit region will continue to recover bodies of the dead. Relief activities have also commenced and necessities like food, water and non-food items have been distributed among 50 affected families belonging to Ursoon.
Moreover, PDMA had made preparations and had already provided 500 tents to the district administration Chitral in the second half of June. In addition to this a relief fund of Rs5 million had also been released to Deputy Commissioner Chitral.
A PDMA spokesperson said, a weather advisory from the MET said that in the next 24-48 hours, more monsoon rains are likely in Malakand and Hazara division.
The PDMA has also declared a red alert in district administration of Malakand and Hazara division. He also stated that the concerned line department have been issued directives to connect situation rooms with the PDMA control room during monsoon. The PDMA spokesman further said the PDMA control room operations will continue non-stop during Eid holidays and special duties to the concerned staff, assigned.
