Surplus gas to be used to generate electricity: KP CM

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that his government has the capacity to lead the province towards sustainable economic growth. He further said that the province has surplus natural gas that is being planned for diversion to power generation as his government wanted to make KP economically viable unit of the federation where there are multi-faceted avenues of employment, growth, industrialisation and economic development.
He was presiding over a meeting on special initiative and fast track execution of projects, especially economic zones, industrialisation, infrastructure, development, social sector in the CM Secretariat here on Monday. Senator Mohsin Aziz, Ghulam Dastagir Khan; Chairman KP EZDMC Special Economic Zone, Mohsin M. Syed; Chief Executive KP EZDMC, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, administrative secretaries and other relevant attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to pursue the Chinese investment for circular rail in Peshawar. It also decided to establish KP Insurance Company and KP Holding Company.
The Chief Minister said, "We have a lot of avenues for hydel power generation and at the same time we have extra natural gas which his government decided to divert to industrial sector to boost industrialisation in the province."
Initially his government identified Karak, Kohat and Rashkai for industrialisation and the natural gas would be used for the purpose.
"We will generate power from natural gas to run industrial units in the province."
He added, "We are quick learner of our past interaction with WAPDA and therefore we rationalised our approach to reduce dependence on WAPDA because WAPDA is reluctant to give us our share of electricity. His government has made up its mind to produce electricity for industrial consumption and meeting our other requirements."
He asked the officials concerned to invite biddings for the purpose.
The Chief Minister said that his government is going all out for self sufficiency in almost all sectors reducing dependence on others that appeared to be the wastage of time and deceit in the past and therefore we would not repeat the past mistakes.
Commenting on industrialisation process in the province, the Chief Minister said that there will be a one window operation that will put the province on fast track progress and economic development. "Rest assured we have the capacity to lead the province towards sustain economic growth."
The Chief Minister directed the participants to pull their sleeves and show results as he hates efforts that do not give results for the public welfare. He has been working on this project for the last three years and now he wanted this to be on ground.
He hoped that the public servants would use their best efforts and put on ground the planned execution of project that were people friendly and that will benefit the whole province.
He said that the interest of the province should be kept supreme and it should be visible for the fast track development of the province. "We have already identified direction of development of the province and we have to work on it to get it accomplished."
