Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Professor Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin has said that the college system needs restructuring with a new syllabus, good governance and an improved infrastructure.
He was addressing the participants of the inaugural session of the first phase of five-day training of the principals of public sector colleges here at University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday.
The Secretary of the Punjab Higher Education Department, Irfan Ali, said, "A college is as good as its principal. However, newly-appointed principals lack knowledge of day-to-day administrative and financial matters and college clerks usually take advantage of this. They must, therefore, be trained in financial management, audit and governance."
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, Professor Doctor Rauf-i-Azam said that the start of the training of 2,600 newly-appointed college teachers to be completed before the end of summer vacations.
The other speaker was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha.
